Digitising the Global Blue Economy
The global economy is entering a decisive structural shift in how environmental assets are measured, valued, and monetised. While the past decade saw the institutionalisation of carbon markets, the next will be defined by the financialisation of water. As scarcity intensifies—driven by climate change, urbanisation, and industrial over-extraction—water is evolving from a publicly managed utility into a strategic, investable asset class. This transition, however, is constrained by a fundamental market failure: the lack of trusted, real-time verification at the physical source—the critical “Verification Gap” preventing scale, liquidity, and institutional participation.
